Have you found yourself feeling like you’re stuck in a rut lately? Like you’re just going through the motions from day to day, doing everything that is expected of you. And while routine can be nice, it just feels like something is missing. Like you missed the boat somehow and are not living your best life. The problem is, you might not be totally clear on what that would look like. You just know that your current reality doesn’t leave you feeling fulfilled and completely happy.
It can be hard to allow ourselves to envision a different life than what we know. Maybe you just don’t know where to start or you feel confined by real and perceived limitations. Well, I’m here to tell you that the sky’s the limit! We are smack in the middle of a changing world. Which, yes, can be quite scary at times. But it’s also super exciting! We have the opportunity to colour outside the lines, forge our own paths and ultimately choose joy. We no longer have to do things a certain way just because that’s the way things have always been done. Imagine the possibilities!
Okay, so you might be feeling overwhelmed at this point, and that’s totally okay. Let’s take a breath and start with baby steps. No need to rush out and quit your job, end your lease and book that plane ticket to Australia just yet. The most logical first step would be to figure out what your best life even looks like. And to help you do this, I’ve provided a list of questions below that should provide you with some insight. Feel free to reflect on these questions, discuss them with friends and/or journal your answers – you might be surprised at what you come up with!
1. What would you ask for if you knew the answer would be a definite yes?
2. If money was no issue, what would you be doing with your time?
3. Imagine you are living on an island where everything is the exact same as your current reality, except there’s no one else living there but you. How would you show up differently?
4. What did you want to be when you were a little kid?
5. What were your favourite things to do as a child?
6. What makes you lose track of time and forget to look at your phone?
7. What makes you laugh uncontrollably?
8. Which moments in your life filled you with awe or took your breath away?
9. What are the little things or little moments that bring you joy throughout your day?
10. Visualize yourself having a conversation with your future self. They assure you that all of your wildest dreams came true. What immediately comes to mind?
So, did any of your answers surprise you? Did you get a clearer picture of the life you want to live? Let me know below what your best life looks like!
