Looking to support the anxious people in your life this holiday season? Look no further! In this post I’ve compiled a list of thoughtful gifts for my fellow anxiety sufferers, no matter your price point. I even consulted with other anxious girlies to ensure this list didn’t just include my personal preferences! Use this gift guide as inspiration for your holiday shopping, and don’t forget to treat yourself to something too 😉
Mindful Gifts
The gift suggestions in this category will provide a positive distraction from anxiety by allowing the receiver to mindfully participate in a hobby that they enjoy!
Craft Kit
Think cozy, mindful crafts that don’t require too much brain power but keep the hands busy. For the more craft anxious girlies, you might look at crochet kits or more elaborate paint by numbers. For the creatively-challenged like myself, try diamond painting or even a fun Lego kit!
Special Edition of Their Favourite Comfort Read
Whether it’s a childhood favourite or a smutty adult fantasy, getting lost in a good book is never a bad idea. Bonus points if you can find their favourite book with an aesthetically pleasing cover!
Cozy Video Games
My go-tos are Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. There is just something so soothing about virtual farming.
Yoga Supplies
Treat your friend to a pretty yoga mat, or accessories to support their yoga practice (bolster, blocks, yoga strap, etc.).
Journal and Pen
Pick out a beautiful journal for your loved one to write their worries in, and don’t forget to include a fancy pen!
Anxious and Empowered
I couldn’t create an anxious girlies gift guide without including my very own book, now could I? 😉
Sensory Gifts
I often talk about how we can use our senses to ground ourselves and soothe anxiety. So why not gift the anxious girlies in your life with something that is pleasing to their senses?
Diffuser and Essential Oils
Essential oil diffusers now come in all shapes and sizes, including USB plugins for your car! And don’t forget to include essential oil scents that you know your loved one will enjoy.
Anxious Girly Jewelry
Think along the lines of essential oil bracelets and fidget rings/earrings.
Weighted Blanket
It can be full sized to fit on a bed, or a nice throw blanket for bundling up in on the couch.
Weighted or Heated Eye Mask
The eyes need some love too!
Cozy Clothing
The last thing I want on my skin when I’m feeling super anxious is tight, rough materials. Look for fun fuzzy socks, baggy sweat pants, a soft sweater, etc.
Stuffed Animal or Dammit Doll
I promise you Dammit Dolls are a real thing. They are made to be cuddled, squeezed or whacked around, whatever your revved up nervous system needs! Regular stuffed animals can also do the trick – something soft and squeezable.
Good Headphones
Headphones have definitely come a long way. Consider looking at the noise cancelling variety or even the kind that you can wear to sleep! These will come in handy when your loved one needs to listen to a soothing playlist, bilateral music or binaural beats.
Self-Care Kit
Think cozy, spa-like items for this gift, curated to your loved one’s specific tastes. You can buy a pre-made kit or gift basket, or put together your own. If you’re going for the latter option, consider including some items from the above sensory category.
Subscriptions
Not into buying “stuff”? No problem! Consider purchasing a subscription or memberships to one of the services listed below.
Mindfulness App
There are so many great options available. My current favourite is the mindfulness.com app.
EFT Tapping App
This is another great option that was recommended to me by a friend. If your loved one is a fan of EFT tapping for managing their anxiety, check out The Tapping Solution app.
Spotify or Apple Music
Music can be such an important tool for coping with anxiety. Treat your friend to ad-free, downloadable access to their favourite soothing tunes.
Audible
If your loved one prefers audio books over the paper variety, treat them to an Audible subscription for a healthy dose of escapism.
Gift Certificates
When in doubt, gift certificates are the way to go. Here are some options that an anxious girly is sure to love!
Massage
Soothing touch is a great way to regulate the nervous system. Plus I guarantee you that your anxious loved one has some tension and knots that need to be worked out!
Spa Treatments
Need I say more?
Nordic Spa Day Pass
These spas are the shit! I’m not kidding. I swear the first time my body felt what it was like to relax was at one of these spas. It’s a full-on sensory experience, plus you get to hang out in hot tubs and saunas.
Book Store
Your loved one can treat themselves to their next self-help book or a great fiction to escape into!
Yoga Classes
Treat your loved one to a class-pass at their local yoga studio.
Gym/Cardio Classes
If your loved one is into something a little more fast-paced, check out gift certificates for a fun cardio class to help them burn off some extra anxious energy!
